Unveiling a Unique Steam Demo: Controlling a Turdy Character on a Quest to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have found plenty of entertaining creations from small studios. However, one catches the eye for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure lets you play a protagonist that is truly a turd trying to travel to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."

The gameplay is easy to grasp: press a single jump button. Across 150 stages, encounter boss fights and access a shop to buy outfits for your poop character.

Time your movements with caution, since one wrong move means beginning again. Leap off bubbles to propel yourself higher, navigate disappearing ledges, and touch triggers to reveal secret routes. Earn coins and use them on tougher game content where the action gets crazy.

In terms of design, the demo shows off vibrant stages and a killer music score. Its minimalist art of moving abstract forms evokes memories of fans of beloved games like Earthbound.

Even though tough to recall previous releases where you control a coiled turd, gaming often featured fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, players make grenades from protagonist waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as fertilizer. Naturally, fecal references is present a lot in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already garnered significant awards, like taking top honors at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. A playable preview is available now on Steam, with the final release set to debut on computers on November 19.
